Social Security Number

Registration with the Dutch Tax Authority

International workers employed in the Netherlands need a Dutch tax identification number (Burgerservicenummer, or BSN). This number is required for purposes such as payroll tax, social security, and filing tax returns.

For expats and international workers, obtaining a BSN is an essential first step toward being able to work in the Netherlands and being officially registered.

This requires careful and timely registration. Without proper registration, delays may occur in payroll, tax filings, and other administrative processes.

Nassau assists employers and international employees with the entire registration process with the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration and other relevant authorities. We ensure that this process is handled efficiently and accurately, tailored to each specific situation.

Our support includes, among other things:

  • Assistance with applying for a Dutch tax ID (BSN)

  • coordination with municipalities and registration procedures

  • assistance with the necessary documentation and preparation

  • guidance for situations where there is no direct registration

  • integration with payroll, tax, and global mobility processes

This allows international employees to get started quickly and smoothly, and helps prevent administrative delays.
